Overview

The Health Management Resources® (HMR) program offers you a structured, medically supervised program to kick-start weight loss and improve your lifestyle. Participants typically lose 20 to 100 pounds with this non-surgical weight-loss program. We combine structured diet plans, health education and behavioral change to help you lose weight and gain the skills to live a healthy lifestyle for years to come.

Services & Treatment

Medical supervision: To join the program, participants must first meet with an HMR program registered nurse and receive medical clearance. This initial health assessment also guides the timing of future monitoring — which is necessary in order to monitor blood sugar glucose and blood pressure, and to make medication adjustments.

Complete nutrition: Cutting calories to lose weight often sacrifices nutrition, so our program emphasizes complete nutrition at every stage. HMR Meal Replacements offer an easy-to-follow structured diet plan that provides your daily recommended nutrition during the weight loss phase of the program. Initial diet options include meal replacements (weight loss shakes, soup, multigrain hot cereal, and nutrition bars) to limit decisions around food and maximize weight loss. We typically recommend a minimum of 12 weeks' participation in the weight loss phase, but this can vary based on your goals.

Lifestyle and behavior change: Weekly classes provide specific tips and strategies for weight loss, including realistic ways to add more fruits and vegetables as well as lower fat and calories in your diet. We also discuss ways you can incorporate more physical activity into your daily routine.

Transition: Meal replacement programs help people lose weight, but what happens when it's time to stop meal replacements, and start grocery shopping and cooking for yourself? HMR provides an 8-week transition that includes reintroducing foods and learning about portion size and preparation methods.

Maintenance: Even after you've reached a healthier weight, you'll continue attending weekly support groups. Depending on your goals, we recommend several months of follow-up meetings for best results. We also offer long-term support tools and goal-setting with varying levels of accountability to meet each individual's needs.

HMR at home: If you're not interested in weekly behavioral classes, or if you live far away from our program sites, a self-directed, at-home HMR program is available. Please call the location nearest you to learn more about this option.

Costs

Weekly classes: $25

Meal replacements: The cost of the meal replacements averages $12 to $14 daily, which will replace most if not all of the participant's current food costs.

Medical supervision: A staff member will be able to provide more details at an orientation session based on individual health needs.
