Stay Healthy With Aurora’s Vaccines Program

Vaccines help you stay healthy by building up your immunity to certain diseases. At Aurora, we offer many common vaccines to help you achieve and maintain your best health:

  • Influenza (flu): Flu season runs from late fall to early spring, causing symptoms such as fever, body aches and fatigue. An annual flu shot can help you avoid this contagious disease.
  • Tdap: This vaccine protects you against three common diseases: tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis) and diphtheria.
  • Pneumovax and Prevnar 13: Pneumococcal bacteria cause several types of infection, including pneumonia, sepsis (infection of the blood) and ear infections. These infections can be serious, or even deadly, in certain circumstances. The best way to protect yourself is by getting the Pneumovax or Prevnar 13 vaccines.
  • Hepatitis A and B: The hepatitis A and B viruses cause serious liver complications, including inflammation and reduced liver function. Hepatitis A and B vaccines, given as a series, help protect you against long-term liver damage.
  • Shingles: The same virus that causes chicken pox also causes shingles, a painful, blistering rash that may last as long as a month. The shingles vaccine lowers your chances of developing this rash and is especially important for people over the age of 50.
  • Gardasil: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections are on the rise, but getting a Gardasil immunization can protect you or your child from becoming infected.
  • Other vaccines: Don’t see what you need? Call your local Aurora Pharmacy.
