"My practice philosophy is to lead all patient interactions with a patient-centered approach. I effectively communicate with the patient and their caregiver to understand their goals when developing an individualized rehabilitation plan. I consider myself to be a partner in my patient's health by helping them to navigate their complex conditions, manage disability and ultimately improve their quality of life."
I earned my medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine, Saba, Netherlands Antilles. I completed my residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich. I also completed a spinal cord injury medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins University/Kennedy Krieger Institute.
I provide peripheral joint injections, trigger point injections, nerve tests such as electromyograms and nerve conduction velocity, muscle performance management and baclofen pump management. My areas of interest include general physical medicine and rehabilitation, deconditioning, neck and back pain, musculoskeletal injury/pain, spinal cord injury medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.
My wife, Charm Der, is a HR management professional in the healthcare industry and an educator. She is passionate about mentoring and providing health and financial literacy programs to individuals in underserved communities. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy all sports (especially ice hockey), fishing and camping.
