Mustafa Farooque, MD is a nonsurgical spine specialist. He is board certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation and in pain medicine. After residency training in physical medicine & rehabilitation he completed fellowship training in musculoskeletal, spine, and sports medicine.
Dr. Farooque provides treatment for various spine-related conditions through counseling, medication, physical therapy, target-specific X-ray guided spinal injections, and referral to other specialists as appropriate. He has well over twenty years of experience in musculoskeletal and spine and has been exclusively treating spine related patients since 1998. He believes that an accurate diagnosis is the key to successful spine treatment, and he accomplishes this by careful listening to his patients, meticulous physical examination, and diagnostic tests. After finding the source of the spinal pain, Dr. Farooque clearly explains to his patients what possibly is causing their symptoms and what are the treatment options. He likes his patients to take part in their treatment decision making. Dr. Farooque prefers least invasive treatment first and recommends more invasive treatments only when clearly indicated. He believes in the concept of "first, do no harm."
Currently he is also serving as Clinical Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Public Health in Madison, WI. Dr. Farooque has been named a "Top Doctor" in 2016 by Milwaukee Magazine.
Outside of his profession, Dr. Farooque enjoys spending time with his family, reading, gardening, traveling, photography, and various athletic activities, especially long distance running.
