"Massage therapy allows a safe, supportive space to thoroughly assess and treat muscles and soft tissue. My sessions are intended to support the whole person and create an opportunity to restore balance in the realms of physical, emotional and spiritual health."
My massage therapy practice philosophy stems from an injury that sidelined me from collegiate swimming for nearly two seasons. I tried massage therapy, and it wasn't long before my hope was restored and I made progress and healed with six sessions of advanced massage and bodywork therapies. Since then, I've learned the value of moving beyond the heavy focus of treating pathology and disease. It's important to not stay hyper-focused on the problem. We should allow ourselves moments where we can focus and be grateful for our good health. This shift in attitude can be powerful medicine and a turning point to move out of chronic health problems. My therapy sessions will foster this attitude.
I started my massage therapy career in Jacksonville Beach, Florida in 1998. I have received numerous trainings over my 20 year career. My specialties include integrating Myofascial Release, NMT and Active Assisted Isolated Stretching techniques with supportive wellness care. I also provide Reflexology during my sessions.
I've been a massage therapist with Aurora Health Care since October 2002. The values of Aurora Health Care to promote and build patient centered care, while supporting wellness classes and therapies drew me back toward building my massage therapy career. Aurora has allowed great support to provide massage therapy across many disciplines, integrating meaningful wellness therapies with innovative allopathic care for our patients.
Outside of work you will likely find me on a lawn bowling green. I compete both nationally and internationally in the game. I also volunteer as a greenskeeper for the two beautiful greens in Milwaukee's Lake Park. I keep fit with Tai Chi and Qi Gong, distance running, and enjoy going walk-a-bout, leisurely, through local neighborhoods. I am a newly certified Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructor.
