Milwaukee, Wis. – Aurora Health Care is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Bigler as the next president of ACL Laboratories. Bigler assumes her role on Jan. 1, 2011 when Ken Rojek, ACL’s current president and general manager steps down and transitions to a special projects leadership role.
“Barbara’s expertise and experience in lab operations and strategic planning will be critical to ACL’s future growth,” says Bruce Van Cleave, MD, Aurora’s chief medical officer and senior vice president of strategic clinical integration.
As president of ACL, Bigler will have oversight of the third largest hospital-based laboratory organization in the United States. Performing more than 20 million tests per year for the Aurora and Advocate Health Care systems, ACL employs 2,700 caregivers and serves the health needs of patients in Illinois and Wisconsin. Aurora and Advocate jointly own ACL.
For the last four years, Bigler has served as ACL’s chief operating officer with responsibility for the operations of central laboratories in Rosemont, Ill., and West Allis, Wis., 24 hospital laboratories and more than 100 ambulatory clinics. Bigler began her ACL career as director of quality and strategic planning following her 18-year tenure with Aurora Health Care.
Residing in Lake Geneva, Wis., with her husband, Barbara has two grown daughters and three grandchildren.
Transition planning with ACL’s senior management is currently underway to ensure a smooth, efficient change in leadership.
