Community Health Data

Overview

Through robust community health research, Aurora hospitals develop thorough and reliable Community Health Needs Assessment reports (CHNAs) every three years. These CHNAs are anchored by a core set of quantitative and qualitative data sources:

  • Community Health Survey Reports (primary, quantitative) presenting findings from telephone surveys of residents in the defined area
  • Secondary Source Data Reports (quantitative) outlining demographic and health-related information for the defined area
  • Key Informant Interview Reports (qualitative) summarizing insights from interviews with leaders in public health, education and non-profit health and human services

Methodology

For all Community Health Surveys, respondents were scientifically selected so that surveys would be representative of all city or county adults 18 years old and older. The sample of random telephone numbers included both listed and unlisted numbers. Respondents within each household were randomly selected using the Hagen/Collier selection technique. At least 8 attempts were made to contact a respondent at each household. Screener questions verifying location were included.

Data collection was conducted by Management Decisions Incorporated, and surveys were conducted by JKV Research, LLC.

For technical information about survey methodology, contact Janet Kempf Vande Hey, M.S., via email or at (920) 687-9909.

Partnerships

The community health surveys are sponsored by Aurora Health Care in collaboration with other local hospital entities and health systems located within the counties where Aurora hospitals reside. The surveys are also completed in partnership with the local health departments and other community stakeholders. The data collection process is aligned to coordinate with varied fiscal year cycles among the partners.
