Keeping your care personal with smart technology
See how your care team uses technology with you in mind.
At Aurora Health Care, your care team is at the center of every decision. We use smart technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to support your care – helping your provider spend more time focused on you.
As a national leader in responsible, technology-enabled care, we’re setting a higher standard for how providers use these tools to improve your health care experience.
Smart technology refers to digital tools your provider and care team use as part of your care. Some of these tools use AI, such as virtual assistants. Others help you connect with specialists through video technology. These patient-centered tools are guided by your care team and designed to support their expertise, not replace it.
Your care team leads decisions when using smart technology. Your provider stays in control of your care and is always available to answer your questions.
Smart technology helps your care team work more efficiently and stay organized, so they can spend more time listening and guiding you through your care.
We’re thoughtful about how we use smart technology. Each tool is carefully selected to support safe and reliable care experiences.
Smart technology already makes a difference when it comes to your care. See how your care team may use smart technology, including virtual assistants, and what that means for you.
During your visit, your provider may use an AI tool that listens to your conversation and captures relevant medical details. By helping with note-taking and documentation, this technology allows your provider to spend less time typing and more time one-on-one with you. Information from your conversation may be used to help document your visit and maintain your medical record.
When you schedule an appointment, pay a bill or receive a reminder, you may interact with one of our AI virtual assistants. They make it easy to connect with us by phone or online, so you can manage your care when it works for you. If you need additional support, they can quickly connect you with a member of our team. Your conversation is handled safely and kept secure, just like the rest of your health information.
While you’re in the hospital, in-room smart technology may be used to observe your recovery without disturbing your rest. This supports your healing while allowing your care team to respond quickly to any changes in your health. And with smart audio and video tools, you can connect virtually with specialists in other locations or have family members join a conversation about your care, even if they’re far away.
We use smart technology in imaging to help your care team spot potential risks earlier, so they can recommend screenings and treatments when they’re most helpful. These tools can also highlight scans that may need closer review, helping you get answers sooner and connect you to relevant clinical trials, expanding your access to additional care options.
We’re committed to using smart technology safely and responsibly. Tools are selected to ensure they meet high standards for clinical safety, data protection and cybersecurity.
Smart technology uses only the information needed to support your care. Your information is protected through strong security measures and compliance with federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA.
If you have questions about how smart technology is used during your visit, please ask your care team.
We use secure, encrypted systems and follow our privacy and security standards. For example, AI tools used to transcribe visits notes are maintained in a private environment.
Your information is stored in approved, monitored spaces. Your final visit notes are saved as part of your medical record. If a transcript is used to help create a note, it’s only kept for a short time, then removed based on our standards.
No. We use secure AI tools that run in private environments designed for health care use. Your information is not shared with public-facing systems.
